~Book Review~ “Dirty CEO” Windy City Bad Boys #1 by Mickey Miller & Holly Dodd

I loved this modern-day version of a Romeo and Juliet tale by Holly Dodd and Mickey Miller.  Set in Chicago, Dirty CEO is the tale of Vince LaRose, Italian mafia and ruler of Chicago, and Kelly MacNamara, princess of the Irish Mob.

Even though Vince and Kelly had been friends in high school, theirs was a romance destined to fail.  With families on opposite sides of the century old feud that rules Chicago, even speaking to one another is frowned upon.  However, when Kelly returns to Chicago to take over the family business, Vince decides to take matters into his own hands regarding both his feelings for Kelly and the bloodshed between the Irish and Italians that is an everyday occurrence in Chicago’s turf wars.

Drawn together, the chemistry between Vince and Kelly is undeniable and sparks fly.  To try and bring an end to the endless violence, Vince proposes that he and Kelly act as a couple to show unity between the two warring factions.  However, feelings and emotions quickly take over, and both Vince and Kelly find themselves in much deeper than either expected.

With the disapproval from both families, can Vince and Kelly find a way to end the feud and be together?  Can Vince escape from his violent past into a future with Kelly?  Can Kelly gain the approval of her family and exit the family business she has never felt comfortable in?

Mickey Miller and Holly Dodd did a phenomenal job with this co-written book.  It read seamlessly and I couldn’t put it down.  I love Vince.  He is intelligent, sexy as hell and completely devoted to Kelly.  Kelly is a perfect complement to Vince’s character and her Irish wit and personality shine through.  What could be another trite mob romance is so much more!  The story has some unexpected twists and ancillary characters that I hope get their own stories as the series continues.  The chemistry between Vince and Kelly is off the charts and there are some very hot scenes between them!

I give Dirty CEO 5 stars and cannot wait to read Connor’s story which is up next in the series.

About the Book:

LaRosa and MacNamara are two names that don’t belong in the same breath. Not unless you want bullets flying through the air, and blood on the floor.

I’m sick of the death and fighting. All that violence? Yeah, I might love it, but it’s not good for my bottom line. With Kelly MacNamara’s influence, my money, and our fake relationship, the decades-long feud between her family, and mine is coming to an end.

I just hadn’t expected to become addicted to Kelly’s tight little body, come hither eyes, and scorching kisses. She might be a wanna-be actress, but the heat between us is all too real.

As the only daughter of an Irish bigwig, I’m expected to follow in my father’s footsteps, and take over the family business. But I don’t want this life. I have California dreams and a shoestring budget. Truth was, I had zero chance of changing my life. Until Vince LaRosa offered me an out.

His plan? Pose as his girlfriend, smooth over the tension between the Italians and Irish, and then I’ll head west to start over with a nice little nest egg compliments of the man himself.

It didn’t seem like a big deal to fake it for a few months. He’s ruthless as hell and panty-dropping hot. I thought I could handle him and the passion between us. But I was wrong.

Now, not only is my family in jeopardy from Vince’s ruthless strategies but so is my heart.

This bad boy mafia romance is a standalone novel in an interconnected series.

About the Authors:

Holly and Mickey, through a series of coincidences that could rival even a romance novel, found out that they write strikingly well together. Holly takes the day shift and Mickey takes the night shift as they blend their styles together to create a unique contemporary style.
But seriously…the have a ton of fun using their hivemind to craft sexy, twisty, and dirty stories for you to enjoy. The Windy City Bad Boys is their first series together, but not their last.
