~Weekly Meme~ That’s What He Said Thursday – Ryder Hart – “Flowers on the Wall” by Mary J. Williams

That’s What He Said is a weekly meme hosted by @Chapter Break. Here’s the deal: every Thursday, post a line from your book boyfriend to his heroine. Keep in mind, these are direct quotes from dialog in the books. The quote doesn’t have to be romantic – it can be anything spoken by a book boyfriend. Be sure to link up over at Chapter Break as well!

Ryder Hart is a rock god that clawed his way to the top from an abusive childhood.  His circle of friends is small, pretty much consisting only of his band mates.  But, he is a fierce protector of those he holds dear.  He also bears some serious emotional wounds from his past that he just can’t seem to let go.

Quinn is a photographer that had come from a supportive and well -off family, until she decided to pursue her dream, rather than her fathers.  Since then, she has scrimped and saved and is making her own way.  When the chance comes to photograph Ryder’s band for two weeks while they finish their tour, it’s an opportunity she can’t pass up.

What follows is an amazing journey between two people who have more in common than they realized and fit together like puzzle pieces.

Both Ryder and Quinn are beautifully broken in their own way, but they definitely know how to speak one another’s language.

I think this exchange speaks to me on a personal level because my spouse is also a musician.  He is a classical guitarist and composed the song I walked down the aisle to on the day we got married.

    1. I really love this meme because it has made me realize that the most memorable line from a book boyfriend might not be the most flowery or elegant prose. Sometimes the simplest words mean the most!
