My 4 Star Review:

Riley Black had been in love with Tiffani for as long as he could remember.  When a tragedy in highschool draws them together as friends, it also pulls them apart as Tiffani longs to escape everything that reminds her of that day the minute she graduates.

Now a senior in college, Riley is enjoying being on the football team and all the perks that come with being an athlete.  All that changes as soon as he catches a glimpse of Tifg across the room at a crowded frat party.

Tiffani Vernon has been trying to escape from the demons in her past since that fateful day in highschool the changed the lives of both her and her classmates forever.  When she is forced back to her hometown for financial reasons, the past comes crashing back down on her . . . and so does Riley no matter how hard she tries to ignore his advances.  Even though Tiff has had a crush on Riley for years, she just can’t help to associate him with the tragedy they lived through and isn’t sure she can emotionally survive giving in to a relationship with him.

Jami Davenport wrote a really beautiful tale of love and friendship.  Both Riley and Tiffani lived through an experience that almost ended both of their lives.  It drew them together in ways that would forever bind them, however, the baggage is extremely heavy and hard to leave in the past.  While Riley is ready to finally get the girl he wants when fate brings her back to town, Tiff does everything she can to avoid her old crush.

Riley decides Tiff is worth it, however and begins to pursue her with an effort worthy of the beautifully broken young woman.  Riley is also broken in ways that he knows Tiff can help him heal fro if she will only give a relationship with him a try.

This book had some heartbreaking moments as we learn just what happened that fateful day 7 years ago and how it affected and continues to affect RIley and Tiffani daily.  It was also a story of hope as we got to watch how both characters not only learned to cope but also heal so they could begin living life rather than hiding from it.  I loved watching Riley fight for Tiff and Tiff finally realizing that she wanted to fight for Riley as well.  4 stars.
