~Author Spotlight~ Sonnet O’Dell

The Spotlight is on Sonnet O’Dell today!

Sonnet has published numerous books.  You can find her catalogue here:  http://sonnetodell.co.uk/books/.

Today, we will be highlighting her self-published titles.

I’m really happy to be able to share a bit about Sonnet and her writing with you!

What would you like your readers to know about you?

Nothing. I am a woman of mystery. Lol. Kidding. I guess they should know I’m nice, if with a slightly weird sense of humour and I do my best to produce good quality fiction.

What inspires you to write?

I’ve always like telling stories. I think I might continue to write even if no one read them just because I have to get the stories out of my head. I worry about going mad otherwise. The thing I think that inspires me the most to keep writing is when someone does read one of my books and says something nice about it, either to me or in a review.

Is there a genre you feel drawn to write or do you see yourself tackling a variety of genres in the future?

I like Urban Fantasy the most. Mythical creatures in real world settings. I’ve dabbled a little in sci-fi, crime and romance. I like trying new genres. The only one I think I’ll skip is historical, I enjoy reading them but I can’t wrap my head around writing one.

Can you describe your writing space?

My writing space is mostly any place I can get a minute alone with a pen and notepad.

Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?

I tend to write out a basic plot line, then end up ignoring huge chunks of it because suddenly the story starts flowing in a different direction.

What is your go to snack when writing?

I like Pocky.

Are any of your books or characters based on personal experiences or people in your life?

Not personal experiences, sometimes the odd conversation I’ve had with someone might influence a scene or dialogue. I do much to some of my friends annoyance name characters after them, sometimes they are like they’re like their namesake but most of the time they aren’t.

Do you have a favorite character or book you have written?

I really enjoyed writing Blessed by Blood. Its book one in the Mistral Cove series and it was a slightly different style that I usually write. I look forward to continuing the series.

Any hints as to what readers can expect next?

I have several projects on the go. Two series, one long, one short are on their last book and will probably end up being finished off first. Then I can look at writing the next book in two series I’ve just started.

For new to you readers, what book would you suggest they read first?

I suggest starting with Cera Raine, it’s a short series (two books at present with the concluding third in progress) and readers can decide if they like my style without committing themselves for a long haul.

Fun Facts:

Celebrity Crush? Tom Hiddleston

Favorite Beverage? Ice Tea – Peach

Sweet or Savory for snacks? Depends on my mood, I go through phases of wanting one or the other more.

What type of music do you listen to? My iPod can go from classical musical to grunge rock in the space of a song – so everything

Do you have any pets? Yes, a black Tom cat named Salem.
