The Spotlight is on Lissa Dobbs today!
Lissa has published numerous books, both fiction and crafting books for those who crochet.
I’m really happy to be able to share a bit about Lissa and her writing with you today!
What would you like your readers to know about you?
I’m a folklore and mythology junkie and have been studying these topics, and others, for more than twenty-five years. If it’s weird and has been out of fashion for more than 100 years, then I probably love it.
What inspires you to write?
Writing is a way to go on vacation without ever leaving home. It’s a way to view the world as I would want it to be and to experience things I can’t in everyday life.
Is there a genre you feel drawn to write or do you see yourself tackling a variety of genres in the future?
I’m particularly drawn to fantasy and paranormal. I love creating worlds and seeing how people will react to living in them.
Can you describe your writing space?
I do most of my writing on the living room sofa. I have baskets under the coffee table with my writing stuff in them. I’m hoping to one day have an office.
Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?
This is a hard one because it varies. Sometimes, I come up with a world and characters and toss them in to see what happens. Other times, I plot and micromanage what goes on.
What is your go to snack when writing?
Cheese and crackers
Are any of your books or characters based on personal experiences or people in your life?
Oh, yeah. Life experience makes it in whether I want it to or not, but I don’t intentionally cast a character based on someone I know.
Do you have a favorite character or book you have written?
Not really. There are things I like about all of them, but I don’t have a favorite at this point.
Any hints as to what readers can expect next?
I have a ton of projects in the works, just not enough time to get them done. I’m still working on a trilogy that just doesn’t want to behave, and I’m working on a new paranormal series. I’m not sure when any of this will be released.
For new to you readers, what book would you suggest they read first?
All of my books are beginning books at this point. The only series that has multiples is The Chronicles of Ethan Grimley III. For that one, begin with A Walker is Born.
When not writing your own books, who do you like to read?
Just about everything. I’ll admit to not liking romance, though.
Share a random fact or two that readers don’t know about you.
My favorite color is purple. I have three sons.
Celebrity Crush? I’m not a big one on celebrity crushes. I do, however, have a massive crush on Aragorn, the character not the actor.
Favorite Beverage? Diet Dr. Pepper
Sweet or Savory for snacks? Savory
What type of music do you listen to? Anything quiet
Favorite tv show? Big Bang Theory
Do you have any pets? Only a stuffed pink monkey
Biggest pet peeve? Rudeness
Favorite vacation spot? Anywhere away from civilization
Morning or Night person? Night
Favorite sports team? I’m not a big sports fan, so I don’t have one.
Hobbies? I love reading, writing, crochet, and making dollhouse miniatures.

So Amy discovers in the halls of the nursing home where her mother works and, later, in the eyes of her peers. Horror follows her everywhere until she learns the truth…eyes are truly windows to the soul.

About Lissa Dobbs
Lissa Dobbs has always been an avid reader of horror and fantasy. From Dungeons and Dragons to comic books to mythology and folklore, she’s spent most of her life in worlds of ages past. She’s an avid follower of J. R. R. Tolkien, and H. P. Lovecraft, and she’s still waiting for her Hogwarts letter and her lightsaber. (How long does it take anyway?) If she ever needs rescuing, she hopes Dr. Strange is the one on duty.
With knowledge of things that ceased to be relevant two hundred years ago, she turned to writing to get some use out of the stuff in her head. Thus, was born the world of Grevared, a world that exists solely in a void space with no celestial bodies. There you will find her heart and soul and see just how many random interests she really has.
