~Author Spotlight~ Harper Phoenix

The Spotlight is on Harper Phoenix today!

Harper has released three paranormal romances in her Stone Pack Series.

I’m really happy to be able to share a bit about Harper and her writing with you today!

What would you like your readers to know about you?

Id like them to know I love their feedback and appreciate every single comment and review! It means the world.

What inspires you to write?

I want people to love my words, and when I get amazing feedback it’s the best feeling. I love writing. I’d write anyway, but knowing that people fall in love with your characters spurs me on to make them the best I can. My characters tell me their stories.

Is there a genre you feel drawn to write or do you see yourself tackling a variety of genres in the future?

I was always drawn to Paranormal romance, because I love that you can be so much more creative with it. It allows your imagination to take on other worlds. But I will be diving into other genres this year, I am co- writing two books. One is in the Dark thriller/horror genre. The other in contemporary romance.

Can you describe your writing space?

I have a huge curved desk. On it I have inspirational quotes and various sentimental things I like to keep close. My desk is my preferred space, but I can take my laptop and write anywhere. I just put my earphones in.

Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?

I started my series by creating a female character, I gave her a unique characteristic. And then I created a guy in the same vain. I create my characters, give them depth and back story. Then I let the characters tell me their story. I always have a couple of scenes in my head and an idea of what could happen. But nine times from ten. It doesn’t ever go the way I think it will. And I’m often surprised too. It’s the only way I can write, I have to let them speak to me.

What is your go to snack when writing?

Urgh this is something I need to quit but chocolate is definitely my snack of choice. Plus I drink coke like water. Not healthy at all.

Are any of your books or characters based on personal experiences or people in your life?

Mostly no, but I may use certain quirks or habits that people have. One character in particular I wrote with my husbands sense of humor. I had a blast writing his character and I find him hilarious.

Do you have a favorite character or book you have written?

I would say at this point from my published books the second was my favorite. Complicated Love. Brad made me laugh so much, and Maiya was troubled and found her way. It’s a love story but they had to find their way from darkness.

Any hints as to what readers can expect next?

Yes! I am ready to release a Stone pack novella at the end of Jan called Always and Forever. Then in March I will be releasing a co-written book with Anthony Vidal, called A Dark Vow. April/ May time will see book 4 in the Stone Pack series, Dare to Love. And a co-write with Eva Jones is on the cards to be released May/June time! I have plans also for a second stone pack novella and the 5th book in the series later in the year. Busy busy  busy!

Tell us about your Street Team and or Reader Group and let us know how interested readers can join.

Sassy Classy Bad Assy Bitches

I also co-run an all female author group ranging from seasoned veterans to up and coming authors. I run this awesome group with Sienna Grant, Joz Maxel, Amali Rose, and Aidan Willows, lead by the phenomenal Stacey Atwin. We’ll never cease to keep you entertained and up to date with their work, giveaways, and exclusive excerpts.

For new to you readers, what book would you suggest they read first?

Well my first book in the series is Forbidden Love. The series does follow on in each book. So ideally, I would start at the beginning.

When not writing your own books, who do you like to read?

I honestly haven’t had time to read much at all (insert sad face) but I’ve Joz Maxel Amali Rose and Anthony Vidal’s work most recently. A couple of my all time faves are Jordan Marie and TM Frazier and I am yet to catch up on their latest.

‘Jared,’ she pleads. I take her mouth again and bend at the knees, pushing my dick under her ass to rest against her slick pussy. All the while unrelentingly fucking her mouth with my tongue. I stimulate her clit with my dick over and over again. She’s making little mewling noises, desperate for me to bring her to climax. But I don’t. I slide inside her, and she groans in relief. I pull right back and pull her ass out further away from the wall. Now she’s bent at the waist, ass in the air and hands holding her up against the wall. Fucking beautiful. Mine. Using her hips as an anchor, I sink in deep till my balls hit her clit. I slam in again and again, but as I feel her walls start to strangle my dick I pull all the way out.
‘Jared!’ she shrieks like I’ve slapped her. I chuckle. This is too easy. Any minute now.
‘Jared… Please…’
‘What do you need, baby?’ I know full well what she wants.
‘Fuck me damn it!’ So fucking sexy. Mine.
I ram myself into the hilt again, and she quivers under my hands. Pulling out again she makes that mewling sound, and I almost cave. I push back so slowly it nearly kills me.
‘You gonna stay with me, baby?’ I ask just as I slide back out. This is torture.
‘Yes…. Yes. God, I’ll stay. Please, Jared….’ I fuck her hard and have her crying out my name until she can barely stand.

Hook. Line. Sinker. Mine.

Complicated Love

Following her abduction, Maiya’s life is turned upside down. Her only wish is that death will come calling her name soon, but instead she’s left with an addiction she can’t shake…and is stuck in a life she never even knew existed.
And then there is Brad…

When Brad is given babysitting duty, he does everything in his power to keep Maiya safe. But he didn’t bargain on what he would get in return. His world is tilted on its axis when he starts to fall for the bitch taking over his space. And no amount of trying will make his feelings go away.

Can Love really conquer all? Or is that just a foolish sentiment?

‘It’s up and to the right a bit.’
I gasp as his voice scares the shit out of me. But I find the light and flick it on. I want to say thanks, and I almost do, but I close the door instead and see myself in the long mirror on the back of it. I barely recognise myself. My hair is a crazy mess, and my face has a yellowish tinge. My eyes are still blue, but they look so different like they’ve lost their shine. Is that even possible? The whites of my eyes look yellow, and then there are the scars. I unbutton the shirt to look them over. I think back to how I got them and hear a blood-curdling noise and cover my ears from the sound.
Brad flings the door open. His eyes are so white against the darkness of the room behind him. It’s then that I realise the sound is coming from me. I’m shaking, but I can no longer see the broken image of myself. Instead, Brad fills the frame. In a split second, he is by my side,
‘Hey, hey. Come on. It’s okay, sweetheart, it’s okay.’ He doesn’t step any closer, and his hand remains outstretched. I’m not sure what I should do. My eyes are spilling over with tears, and I have no idea how to stop them.
How to stop feeling.
I just don’t want to feel anymore. I don’t want to be here anymore. I remember so much. Too much. I want to forget. I need to forget. Please, please, let me forget. Brad takes a step closer, and I move to the side to stay out of his reach.
‘Sweetheart, I’m not going to hurt you. I want to help you. Let me help you?’
I have nowhere else to go. I’m trapped, and I don’t know what I should do. Just then, there’s a knock on the bedroom door, and I hear someone shout from the other side.
‘Brad! Everything okay in there?’
‘Yeah, buddy, just some bad dreams, that’s all,’ he says from the bathroom doorway, looking at me. His eyes lock with mine, and for a fleeting moment, I want to take his hand. But then I remember what he is. I curl my fingers into a fist and keep them at my sides. Whoever was at the door must have left because I don’t hear anything else. All I hear now is his breathing and mine. He takes another step, and I hold my breath, waiting for whatever comes next. He takes another, and I’m flat against the wall now. I screw my eyes closed and wait. I feel him tug on the front of my shirt—he’s so gentle. I open my eyes. I look down, and he has buttoned the shirt back up to the top. So he can no longer see my body. And I don’t blame him. I’m repulsive.

Fated Love

Howard Clarke is the enforcer of the pack,
he’s second in command,
and the pack has always come first.
Until her…
Willow is new to the Stone Pack,
their chemistry is off the charts
and their feelings mutual…
Howard has given up fighting the inevitable,
realizing that he’s just fighting fate… but can it last?
Fate brought them together, but is HIS Love strong enough for the two of them?

About Harper Phoenix

I was born and bred in East Yorkshire England, and I still live in my hometown, with my husband and children.

My journey with stories began when I was just a child, I would often scribble down wherever my dreams or imagination took me.

My journey with writing stories, began much later when I became ill and housebound for a period of eighteen months. I decided I would escape real life and become immersed in a story of my creation. With the support of my husband and family my first real story was born. I would stay up night after night tapping the keys of my trusty laptop, while my husband lay sleeping beside me. I was hooked. But it wasn’t as easy as that. My story needed work. A lot of it. And it sat on my computer for some years after that. Later on I decided to embark on another journey. I went to university, where I studied Creative writing and english literature.

I then decided with a new wealth of knowledge that I would once again delve into the world that I had created. I had never forgotten the characters and would often think about what I would have liked to have done with them over the years. I had grown to love them for getting me through a very difficult period in my life, and I wanted other people to read all about them. And so I began to rewrite my book.

It wasn’t until I delved into the ‘Book world’ on facebook that I discovered the ‘Indie book world.’ It’s amazing! So many authors are now being heard publishing this way, and I can only hope that my books will leave a lasting memory for some or all of you readers too!
