Down The TBR Hole is a meme hosted by @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
In my case, My TBR is on my Kindle. So, I find myself going back to the earliest add of my current paperwhite (and realizing that my dates will be out of order since every time you open a book, it reorders them LOL).
If you are intrigued by any of the titles, clicking on their name will take you to Amazon to learn more.
The Book: One True Mate 1: Shifter’s Sacrifice
Date added to my Kindle: 12/06/16
My Thoughts: I do enjoy a great PNR romance and this has really fabulous reviews.
Verdict: Keep
The Book: Six by Hilary Storm
Date added to my Kindle: 11/07/2016
My Thoughts: I’m wary of MC romance sometimes because of the gratuitous violence and the way female characters are often portrayed, but this one intrigues me. Plus, I have a signed copy on my shelf, so I feel I really need to give it a chance.
Verdict: Keep
The Book: The Queen of Swords by Nina Mason
Date Added to my Kindle: 08/29/2014
My Thoughts: This has been sitting, and sitting, and sitting.
Verdict: Remove
The Book: Hardened by Steel by JB Havens
Date Added to my Kindle: 08/21/2016
My Thoughts: So, I read the first book in the series because JB Havens collaborated with a one-click author of mine, Samantha A Cole, and their characters collided in the collaboration. I hated the first book. It left me feeling way to unsettled and was way to realistic even though it was extremely well written. It wasn’t for me.
Verdict: Remove
The Book: Closer by Dannika Dark
Date Added to my Kindle: 09/09/2016
My Thoughts: I adore Dannika Dark. I’m not sure how I missed reading this novella. This is definitely one I’m glad I found doing this exercise.
Verdict: Keep
I removed 2 books out of the 5 books I listed. I thought this would be an easier task since some of these books have been sitting on my kindle for years, but the struggle is real that I am tossing away what could be a fabulous read! My saving grace . . . they are all still stored in my Amazon cloud.
I also want to give a shout out to Alecia @The Staircase Reader . . . I’ve watched her work through her TBR pile the lat few weeks and decided to follow her lead and take the plunge down my own TBR hole.
Have you read any of the books I listed above? Which would you keep / remove?
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
Yes! I’m so over a huge tbr. It’s time to make room for books I’m actually going to read. And also remember those books I’ve long since forgot about. I’m so glad you decided to join. As for your books the only author i’m familiar with is Hilary Storm. I also have six on my tbr 🙂
