Down The TBR Hole is a meme hosted by @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
In my case, My TBR is on my Kindle. So, I find myself going back to the earliest add of my current paperwhite (and realizing that my dates will be out of order since every time you open a book, it reorders them LOL).
If you are intrigued by any of the titles, clicking on their name will take you to Amazon to learn more.
The Book: The Wolf and the Witch by Lola Kidd
Date added to my Kindle: 05/18/16
My Thoughts: I’ve gotten a lot pickier with my paranormal romance picks. The blurb just isn’t calling to me right now.
Verdict: Remove
The Books: Trust Me when the Sun Goes Down and Tempt Me when the Sun Goes Down by Lisa Olsen
Date added to my Kindle: 02/06/2015 and 01/16/2015
My Thoughts: I really enjoyed prior books in this series and then had to wait for these to release. Since then, I’ve lost track as there are even more books that have been released. Knowing how much I enjoyed these, I think a series re-read is in order before jumping to these.
Verdict: Keep
The Book: The Mystic Series Set: Books 1-3 by B.C. Burgess
Date added to my Kindle: 06/06/2014
My Thoughts: Again, my tastes in PNR have changed in the past few years. And, knowing this is a multi-book series and reading time is limited makes it a no go right now.
Verdict: Remove
The Book: A Lover’s Lament by K.L. Grayson and B.T. Urruela
Date added to my Kindle: 07/23/16
My Thoughts: This has over 1000 reviews and a 5 star rating. I’ve gotta find the time to get to this one.
Verdict: Keep
The Book: Awakening The Bear
Date added to my Kindle: 01/01/2017
My Thoughts: I snagged this (and a bunch of the author’s titles) when she had a week of giveaways and freebies. Honestly, I snagged because I could. This one isn’t grabbing my interest at this time.
Verdict: Remove
The Book: Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn
Date added to my Kindle: 04/12/2017
My Thoughts: This seems really dark and has a bunch of themes I’m not into right now. It has excellent reviews, but I’m not feeling just how dark and violent I suspect this book will be.
Verdict: Remove
I removed 4 books out of the 7 books I listed this week. And, yes, this is still a struggle. Honestly, the only reason I can complete this exercise is because these books still live on in my Amazon cloud.
Running total: 10 books kept and 14 books removed.
Have you read any of the books I listed above? Which would you keep / remove?
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
A LOVER’S LAMENT was insanely good so great choice keeping that one I think! I’ve been itching to read NINE MINUTES but it’s a series and I haven’t found the time yet…😁
