The 2nd annual Authors in the Steel City will be coming back to Pittsburgh, PA September 6 & 7 2019. Since Pittsburgh is my home town, I wanted to spotlight some of the amazing authors coming into this amazing city as part of the event.
Today I am spotlighting Alexis R. Craig. Alexis writes sweet contemporary and steamy adult romances.
Alexis can’t wait to attend the AITSC event this September because:
I attended the first AITSC and it was a blast! I got to meet some of great people, authors and readers. By the line up for this fall, there are going to be some new to me faces, and I can’t wait to meet everyone!
What would you like your readers to know about you?
I am relatively new to the book world, but I have written for many years! (Too many to say out loud!).
What inspires you to write?
Everything! I can hear a song and it gives me an idea, I can see someone, or a couple, walking by and it gives me an idea. I can be sitting outside and just enjoying nature and I get an idea for a story. There’s inspiration everywhere, you just have to be open to it.
Is there a genre you feel drawn to write or do you see yourself tackling a variety of genres in the future?
I primarily feel drawn to romance, but I also hope to tackle different genres in the future.
Can you describe your writing space?
A small desk in a back bedroom, or at my dining room table. It’s according to how much quiet I need at the time.
Can you tell us a bit about your writing process?
I honestly don’t have one. An idea comes to me, I loosely outline it, I write. I tend to go back and add to a scene sometimes while still writing in a later chapter.
What is your go to snack when writing?
Saltine crackers. I love them!
Are any of your books or characters based on personal experiences or people in your life?
I think each of my stories has a little of me in them, whether it’s just how I feel, believe, or maybe an experience I’ve had. I have one coming out soon that has a lot of me, and some of my life, in it.
Do you have a favorite character or book you have written?
I love them all, but I think the book I’m working on at the moment (Finding Grace), is my favorite so far.
Any hints as to what readers can expect next?
I am writing for some anthologies at the moment. I am also co-writing with another author and hoping that one will be out soon! I also have one coming out later this year that will touch on all of the emotions.
For new to you readers, what book would you suggest they read first?
This Rose Has Thorns is my first release, I would start there.
Tell us about your Street Team and or Reader Group and let us know how interested readers can join.
When not writing your own books, who do you like to read?
I have so many favorite authors, it’s hard to narrow it down to just a few. I read Stephen King, Nicholas Sparks, E.L. James, Nicole Strycharz, Barb Shuler. So, so, many more!
Share a random fact or two that readers don’t know about you.
I also write poetry!
Celebrity Crush? Sam Elliott! I just love that man!
Sweet or Savory for snacks? usually sweet
Favorite pizza topping? Italian sausage!
What type of music do you listen to? everything but rap
Do you have any pets? Two… a mixed German Shepard named Dixie, and a Chihuahua named Jules.
Biggest pet peeve? Rude people!.
Morning or Night person? night
Favorite holiday? Christmas
Hobbies? I like to draw/sketch

Alexis is also participating in the AITSC charity anthology Hearts of Steel: A Pittsburgh Anthology releasing on August 13, 2019.
Ms. Craig resides on 10 acres of wooded wonderland in rural North Carolina with her soulmate, who understands her little quirks. She has written many articles and short stories for numerous magazines and anthologies, but now, she’s fully committed to her career as an author.
She enjoys reading, hiking, coffee shops, and spending time with her husband. She writes everything from sweet contemporary to erotic and provocative romance. Her characters always have a backstory of why they are who they are.
Alexis is an avid reader and a lover of good wine. If she’s not in front of her computer creating powerful characters, you can find her cuddled up with a good book.
