~Book Review~ “Owned by a Sinner” by Michelle Heard

My Review:

Owned by a Sinner was a phenomenal grumpy / sunshine mafia romance!

Head of the Irish Mafia, Liam Byrne doesn’t do relationships.  He really doesn’t even enjoy human touch.  His sole focus is running the mafia and keeping his city safe from those trying to take over, including his step brother.  But, when a new secretary literally bumps into him, he isn’t disgusted by her touch . . .instead, it’s quite the opposite, which is something that has never happened to Liam before.

Kiara Murphy has finally landed what she sees as the job of a lifetime.  Even though she knows it is only an entry position, there is plenty of room to grow at Byrne Enterprises.  But, when her dad is less than thrilled, she has no idea why until one of the directors, Finn Byrne, threatens everything she loves and holds dear.  With her family at stake, Kiara can only hope that someone can save her.

Owned by a Sinner was fantastically unexpected!  Yes, there are mafia related issues and action, but this book really was a love story through and through.  I adored Liam so very much!  Watching Kiara unexpectedly break through his walls and into his heart was lovely to watch.  And, Kiara had so much spunk to deal with what she had to and to roll with the punches even as secrets were revealed that it became clear that she was the perfect match for Liam.

Michelle Heard makes it so easy for readers to fall in love with these mafia men and the women who help to keep their humanity in grasp rather than lose them to the dark world they live in.  5 stars!

All I want to do is look after my dad, so when I land the job of a lifetime that will take care of our expenses, I grab at the chance with both hands. Little do I know, the impossible will be expected of me.

Slowly my smile fades, and my laughter dies until all that’s left is the broken puppet my personal hell created.

Liam Byrne, the head of the Irish mafia, returns from a business trip, and I expect my hellish nightmare to increase ten-fold.

Brutal, merciless, and dangerous, Liam is feared by all – even the monster intent on killing my soul.

Turns out I was wrong.

The instant Liam notices what’s happening, he takes me under his wing, and even though he’s all sharp edges and threatening growls, I feel safe with him.

Little by little, my sunshine creeps through the cracks, and my laughter returns.

But can one monster really defeat another, or am I just a girl dreaming about the impossible?
