~Book Review~ “Filthy” by Tia Louise

My Review:

Hana appears to be fragile.  Broken by childhood trauma, she’s made some terrible decisions in her life.  But now, with her sister’s support, she’s trying to do better and stand on her own.  But, even though she isn’t the party girl she used to be to escape her living nightmare, she never feels safe and she certainly can’t sleep . . . unless she is in his arms!

Scar isn’t a good man.  He’s done terrible things in his life when he didn’t have a choice.  But, he walked away when he was asked to protect someone who didn’t deserve any protection at all for the things he did.  But, the past is hard to leave behind.  And, even now, when he finally has found the one reason to make himself live again, the past is waiting to tear Hana away from him forever.

Both are broken individuals, but together they feel whole and give one another a reason to actually live life.  But will their love be strong enough to withstand the Russian mafia and a brutal past that won’t stay where it belongs?

I could not wait for Scar and Hana’s story after meeting them in Fearless, and this book did not disappoint in any way!  This definitely felt like a case of soul mates, as no one else would ever do for this couple.  I loved the way that Hana made Scar feel alive and like he was worth something.  And, I adored how Scar made Hana feel loved, safe and gave her the courage to take care of herself.

While the book focused on Hana and Scar, I really enjoyed Hana’s relationship with Pepper as well.  It highlighted both Hana’s youth as well as how she is wise and experienced well beyond her age.  It gave Hana’s character a way to grow and develop even more and I loved the uniqueness of this duo.

With dynamic chemistry, some extremely not safe for work scenes and a fantastic plot, Filthy left me feeling emotionally raw in the best of ways as Scar and Hana faced all of their demons to find their happy ever after.  5 stars!

By Tia Louise

Good girls are saved by princes, but my savior is a monster.

After my father died and my family splintered, I became a target, a pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing.
Then he appeared–dark, dangerous, tormented, and always just within reach.
He makes me feel something I lost years ago: Safe.
And he thinks he can keep me at arm’s length.

Once upon a time I was a hero, until the sins of my father caught up with me, and I was forced into darkness.
I should’ve died in that fire. Instead, I served evil men, until I risked it all by walking away.
Now I’m a wanted man. At any time, I could be taken down for what I owe.
What I don’t expect to find in my hiding place is her–broken, beautiful, so damn tempting.
I shouldn’t touch her with my filthy hands. I was hired to keep her safe.
But every day it gets harder, then she starts sneaking into my bed.

Together, we’re filthy, but together, we can find our way through the flames.

(FILTHY is a stand-alone, bodyguard, romantic suspense novel. It contains a fierce, wounded alpha-protector and the filthy girl he’s hired to protect… No cheating. No cliffhangers.)
