~Book Review~ “Fighting Gravity” by Julie Adams

My Review:

Lily came to Paris to escape her past and heal so she can have a future.  She’s tired of always looking behind her and being afraid. But she feels like a magnet for bad luck, except when tragedy strikes this time, a handsome man breaks down the door to save her.  She’s not ready to start anything, but there is something about him that makes her want to try to learn to trust again.

The last thing Nathan needs is a distraction.  He doesn’t do relationships. He didn’t mean to save her and he sure didn’t mean to fall in love.  But there is something about the beautiful American that won’t let him walk away from her as he knows he should.  But, what happens if she finds out the secret he is hiding?

Let me start by saying that the backdrop of Paris is a simply stunning place to set a romance and Julie Adams took full advantage of the culture and scenery when writing Fighting Gravity.  It’s hard not to get swept away in this romance, things happen rather quickly, but it just feels so right!

Lily is such a strong character.  Events in her past have left her shaken and lacking trust in men and just overall afraid, but she is truly working on moving forward with her life.  She’s a real fighter and I loved that about her character.

Nathan is successful and handsome and oh so romantic even though he claims not to be.  He falls so hard and fast for Lily it is breathtaking. But, he also has a complex and somewhat heartbreaking past.  And, when it’s revealed, it’s a big enough deal that it could push Lily away from him forever.

And, while their romance is burning hot, there is something more sinister afoot in Paris, adding a great element of suspense that was intriguing and shocking.

Fighting Gravity was a lovely book with plenty to keep you turning pages.  From Paris to the romance and suspense and the wonderful characters it was a fabulous read.  4 stars.
